This year we decided to plant a few pumpkin seeds and see what happened. We have had good pumpkin crops in the past and some yeasr where none grew at all. This year we had a total of 8. I used one to make pumpkin pies already and one started to go bad before we picked it. These are the remaining ones. We will carve one for Halloween and I will use the others to make pumpkin puree to freeze and use later for more pumpkin pies.

Hick's Apple Orchard For Apple Cider Donuts and More
This is a local apple orchard in Granville, NY. Every year we usually take a trip out to get their hot apple cider donuts, apple cider and apples. I always get McIntosh. This week my mom and I went and we left with donuts, cider, apples, apple pies, maple mustard and a few other things. They have a great variety! When my son was younger, we would go and pick the apples directly from the orchard. They let you drive down the rows and park among the trees. These days, we go during the week to avoid the lines and we buy the apples already picked. It is always such a great country atmosphere. The leaves are changing and it was a very pretty drive too.

One Day's Harvest from the Garden
I loved having a garden this year. This is my harvest from August 27, 2012. every day I was able to pick something. My freezer is overloaded with veggies for the winter. I have made many recipes and loved eating from the garden daily. We expand every year and plan to do more next year. It is so rewarding growing food for your own family.

Yard Sale
It seems that every summer, although I don't really want to, we have a yard sale. I couldn't believe the amount of stuff we actually had this year we could get rid of. We had the yard sale for two weekends in a row and got rid of a lot of things. The things we didn't sell I have put on Craigslist and our local online garage sale pages of Facebook. Sales are trickling in and hopefully we will be rid of the larger things soon. A little money and some added space in the house. A lot of work, but also fun.
